RIYADH — Brig. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki, spokesman of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, reiterated that the Coalition forces would continue supporting the Yemeni army in its ongoing battle in the Yemeni governorate of Marib.

Al-Maliki said this on Tuesday after his meeting with the senior Coalition and the Yemeni government officials during his visit to the governorate.

“The life was proceeding normally in Marib where it will be a difficult time for the Houthi militia,” he said while pointing out that the Houthis do not care about the lives of its members who have been sent to the battlefield.

Al-Maliki recalled that the Coalition forces had waged the Decisive Storm Operation to protect the Yemeni people as well as to safeguard the legitimate Yemeni government recognized by the international community.

“The Coalition forces would continue to provide all kinds of support, in terms of humanitarian, political and military ones, in response to the request of the frontline forces from the Yemeni Army stationed there,” he added.

It is noteworthy that the Yemeni Army liberated on Monday a number of positions in Marib and scored victories in Taiz, causing the Houthis to suffer heavy human casualties as well as losses of equipment.

The Yemeni armed forces, backed by the Popular Resistance and the air forces of the Coalition, liberated new positions on the battlefronts northwest of the Marib governorate, and inflicted great human and material losses on the Houthi militia.

A military source at the Media Center of the Yemeni Armed Forces said that the army and the Popular Resistance repelled attacks by the Houthi militia, and launched a counter-attack during which they were able to liberate a number of positions in the Mas frontline belt.

He stressed that the battles also resulted in dozens of militia members being killed and wounded, along with other losses.

According to the source, the air forces of the Coalition destroyed a Houthi missile launch pad in the vicinity of the front. In other raids they targeted and completely destroyed crews and vehicles, and all those on board were killed.

It is noteworthy that the Coalition announced on Sunday that it had launched a qualitative military operation with heavy air raids against the Houthi militia in Yemen.

The Coalition said that it is targeting Houthi capabilities in the occupied capital, Sanaa, and a number of other Yemeni governorates. “The qualitative operation has been launched in line with international humanitarian law and its customary rules,” it added.
