MANAMA — The Council of Ministers in Bahrain reiterated the country’s strong condemnation of the attacks launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia, targeting Saudi Arabia’s oil installations.

The Cabinet noted that such reckless actions threaten the lives of innocent civilians as well as the security of global energy-supply chains, and are a violation of international law.

In a virtual session chaired by Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who is also the prime minister, the Cabinet expressed Bahrain’s support for Saudi Arabia in all measures to protect its national security and the safety of its citizens and residents.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Bahraini Cabinet recognized the importance of ongoing cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities, noting that effective cooperation between the two branches has ensured citizens’ needs are met in the state's general budget for the fiscal year 2021-2022.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Cabinet underlined the progress made in the political, economic, and social lives of Bahraini women as a direct result of ongoing work and initiatives by the Supreme Council for Women, under the leadership of Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the president of the Supreme Council for Women.

The Cabinet welcomed public authority monitoring and auditing of expatriate workers’ accommodation to ensure compliance with COVID-19 safety measures and directed a review of related regulation.

The Bahraini Cabinet congratulated the Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit on his reappointment, wishing him success in strengthening the role of the League.
