Saudi Gazette report

CAIRO — Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit underlined the importance of putting more international pressure on the Iran-backed Houthi militia in order to force them into halting their hostile actions.

Arab League chief Aboul Gheit made the remarks during his meeting with Yemen's Foreign Minister Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak.

The talks revolved around the latest developments in Yemen under such escalations and an attempt to find a political solution, the League said in a statement carried by the Kuwait News Agency.

Halting military activity, explained Aboul Gheit, will make way for a political solution that involves all parties based on Security Council resolution number 2216.

He also pledged Arab League support of this decision by the Yemeni government which aims to protect the country's unity in facing regional challenges.
