WASHINGTON — The United States on Sunday strongly condemned the attacks carried by the Iran-backed Houthi militia on civilian installations and innocent civilians in Saudi Arabia.

In a press statement on Sunday, the US State Department spokesman, Ned Price said that these attacks threaten not only innocent civilians but also prospects for peace and stability in Yemen.

Price called on the Houthis to end these egregious attacks and engage constructively with UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths, and US special envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking with the goal of bringing peace, prosperity, and security to the Yemeni people.

US State Department spokesman indicated that his country remains committed to its longstanding partnership with Saudi Arabia and to helping the Kingdom defend its territory as it faces attacks from Iranian-aligned groups.

Meanwhile, Somalia also condemned the Houthi attacks against civilians in the Kingdom.

In a statement, the foreign ministry said that Somalia strongly condemns the Houthi militia’s launching of a ballistic missile toward Riyadh and a number of bomb-laden UAVs toward the cities of Jizan and Khamis Mushait.

Somalia considered these attacks as a violation of international humanitarian law, a terrorist attack against civilian installations and an obstruction to the United Nations efforts aiming to reach a comprehensive political solution in Yemen, the statement read.

Somalia affirms solidarity with Saudi Arabia in all measures it takes to defend its territories and preserve its security and the safety of its citizens and residents against any aggression, the statement added.

The secretary-general of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, issued a statement on the behalf of the league condemning the attacks and expressing full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in any measures it takes to defend its territories and the safety of its citizens, stressing confidence in its ability to confront these terrorist attacks that target civilians.

The secretary-general pointed out that the Houthi militia’s escalation of its operations and attacks on Marib, since the beginning of last month, comes within the framework of a reckless Iranian agenda that uses Yemen as a political bargaining chip without any consideration of the dangerous consequences on the lives of civilians. He held the Houthi militia responsible for the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Yemen.

The Arab Parliament has strongly condemned the attacks.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Arab Parliament affirmed that any threat to Saudi Arabia's security is a threat to Arab security, adding that these cowardly terrorist attacks are a flagrant violation of international law and norms.

Arab Parliament called for urgent and immediate action by the international community to stop the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi Militia, praising the vigilance and efficiency of the Forces of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen in intercepting and destroying any threats by the terrorist militia.
