RIYADH — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) will hold a virtual panel discussion on Thursday titled “Child Soldiers are Victims, Not Soldiers” on the occasion of the International Day against the Use of Child Soldiers (Red Hand Day).

The panel discussion will include the participation of Supervisor General of KSrelief Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, who is also an adviser at the Royal Court, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, international organizations, and local and international professionals.

The panel discussion is divided into two sessions. It aims to raise awareness about child recruitment and the importance of highlighting this illegal practice, internationally and in the media, and strengthen cooperation between interested and working parties in protecting children from recruitment and rehabilitating former child soldiers.

Participants will also review best practices in this regard to come up with recommendations that will contribute to the development of humanitarian action to reduce child recruitment. — SG
