Recoveries outpace new COVID-19 cases in KSA as deaths continue to remain low

RIYADH — Single-day COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia remained below the 350-mark for the third consecutive day, with 314 new infections reported on Monday.

The new cases breached the 350-mark for five days in a row last week, however, virus-related deaths continued to remain low with just five fatalities reported on Monday, according to the health ministry's statement.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 373,046 and fatalities to 6,438 respectively.

The ministry also reported 341 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 363,926.

The Riyadh region continued to record the highest number of infections with 154 cases, followed by the Eastern region with 60 and the Makkah region with 47 new infections.

The remaining cases were detected in different other regions of the Kingdom.

With the slight drop in the number of new cases, the active cases in Saudi Arabia fell to 2,682 out of which 472 were critical.
