Critical cases rise by 26 in 24 hours as new COVID-19 infections remain steady

RIYADH — Single-day COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia remained above the 300-mark for the seventh consecutive day, with 353 new infections reported on Tuesday.

The virus-related deaths, however, remained low despite a slight rise in the new cases with just four fatalities reported on Tuesday, according to the health ministry's statement.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 370,987 and fatalities to 6,410 respectively.

The ministry also reported 249 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 362,062.

The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of infections with 168 cases, followed by the Eastern region with 66 and the Makkah region with 38 new infections while the Al-Baha region saw a spike after a long time with 23 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in different other regions of the Kingdom.

With the slight increase in the number of new cases, the active cases in Saudi Arabia rose to 2,515 out of which 427 were critical rising by 26 over the past 24 hours.
