MANAMA —
Bahrain's Public Prosecution has referred a suspect with confirmed novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection to the court for refusing to disclose information about his contacts, the Bahrain News Agency reported citing a statement from the country's chief of Ministries and Public Entities Prosecution.

The Public Prosecution has ordered the defendant’s urgent trial after finding him guilty of violating the provisions of the country's law, by refusing to provide the National Medical Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus with the names of his contacts after contracting COVID-19.

He also failed to cooperate with the judicial officers from the Public Health specialists, breaching the provisions of the Law by refusing to comply with the procedures for preventing, isolating, and treating communicable diseases issued by the Health Ministry to limit the spread of the pandemic.

The Public Prosecution called on everyone to respect the provisions of the law and the decisions issued by Bahrain's health ministry, as well as to follow all preventive and precautionary measures to limit the spread of pandemic.

It also urged everyone not to hide their infection or refrain from disclosing the contact information, and to cooperate with the competent authorities in charge of contact tracing, in order to ensure the health and safety of everyone in Bahrain.
