Saudi Arabia sees 147 new COVID-19 infections as recovery rate nears 98%

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health recorded on Tuesday 147 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 364,096.

The ministry announced just five more deaths over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by COVID-19, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities to 6,300.

The ministry also reported 151 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 355,857, with the recovery rate rising to 97.73 percent.

The Riyadh region reported the highest number of infections with 48 cases, followed by the Eastern region with 33 and the Makkah region with 31 cases while Al-Jouf and Al-Baha regions recorded none.

The remaining cases were detected in different other regions of the Kingdom.

With the recoveries surpassing new cases regularly, the active cases in Saudi Arabia have also dropped to 1,939 out of which 310 were critical cases.
