Attorney General: No detention of anyone without a legal document

RIYADH — Attorney General Sheikh Saud Al-Muajab emphasized that the Public Prosecution will ensure that no person without a legal document is detained. He also highlighted the importance of implementing rules and regulations in the proper way.

Sheikh Al-Muajab made the remarks during his meeting with the Acting Director-General of Prisons Majed Al-Duwaish at the Public Prosecution headquarters here on Wednesday. He stressed that the cases of prisoners and detainees will be kept up to date with the investigation and judicial authorities and those who are in charge of executing judicial verdicts.

Sheikh Al-Muajab said that the necessary measures have been taken to establish an electronic link between the Public Prosecution and the General Directorate of Prisons in order to accelerate the exchange of shared data and information.

During the meeting, they exchanged cordial talks and discussed a number of issues of common concern. They underlined the need for further strengthening cooperation between the Public Prosecution Office and the Directorate of Prisons, especially related to the work of specialists for monitoring prisons at the Public Prosecution.

During the meeting, Sheikh Al-Muajab listened to an overview of the development work of corrections, the future plans of the General Directorate of Prisons, the programs and activities that target inmates and focus on their rehabilitation so as to enable them to be effective individuals useful to the society and nation after their release.
