Indian community members honored for their efforts in fight against coronavirus

Jeddah — The Jeddah Central Committee of the Indian Social Forum recently held a function to honor those who rendered outstanding contributions in the fight against coronavirus pandemic.

Those who were honored included local Indian media persons, healthcare workers such as doctors and nurses, social workers and volunteers who selflessly served in various hospitals, and were involved in disseminating public awareness besides distributing food kits and medical supplies to the most distressed people during the pandemic.

As a token of appreciation for brave efforts of the frontline workers in the face of the pandemic, ISF honored Dr. Vineetha Pillai (Al Ryan Polyclinic), Dr. Dineshan (Badr Al Ryan Polyclinic), Dr. Aman Aslam Hyderabad (Saudi German Hospital) and Saleekhat Shiju (Staff Nurse, King Abdul Aziz Hospital, Jeddah) with mementos.

A number of media persons were honored with mementos for the media coverage creating awareness about the pandemic and helping to stem its spread. They included Hassan Cheruppa (Saudi Gazette), P.M. Mayin Kutty (Malayalam News), Sadiqali Thuvvoor (Gulf Madhyamam), Gafoor Kondotty (Media One), Jaleel Kannamangalam (24 News), Kabeer Kondotty (Thejas News), Akbar Ponnani (Satyam Online), Bijuraj Ramanthali (Kairali TV), Mustafa Peruvallur (Deepika News), Zulfikar Othai (Amrita TV), Mansoor Edakkara (Vikshanam News) and Abul Hasan Jafarullah (Enneram - Tamil)

Abdul Ghani Malappuram received the award for the comprehensive contribution in educational empowerment of the expatriate Indian community. Koyissan Beeran Kutty, Hamza Poovathy and Shahul Hameed Medappil were honored with special award for their coordination and contribution in the field of social service.


Appreciating the services of selfless services of volunteers, Noushad Mampad, Faisal Thampara, Abu Hanifa (Kerala), Sheikh Abdullah, Mohammad Rafeeq (Tamil Nadu), Firoz Ahmed, Salman Ahmed, Mubashir Akram, Mustaqeem, Shams Tabriz, Shadab Rasool (North Indian states) and Rafeeq Pazhamallur, Mohammad Salim Malappuram, Sajid Feroke, Najeem Punalur and Jamsheed Chungathara were presented with plaques for their invaluable support in social media and publicity.

ISF Jeddah Central Committee officials, including President EM Abdullah, General Secretary Alikoya Chaliyam, President of ISF North Indian states Mujahid Pasha, Al Aman Nagercoil, Nasser Khan, Abdul Nasser Mangalore, Haneef Jokatte, Haneefa Kizhisseri, Hassan Mankada and Ashraf CV gave away the mementos.


Mementos to social workers and medical staff in Makkah and Madinah will be presented in the near future, an official of ISF said. The function was presided over by E.M. Abdullah during which Alikoya Chaliyam welcomed the gathering and Abdul Naser, president of Karnataka unit of the forum, proposed the vote of thanks.
