RIYADH — Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf said that the GCC has become the fulcrum of regional stability and equilibrium.

The GCC chief referred to the current changes and developments being witnessed at the regional and international arenas, citing the ability of the council to remain a strong pillar over the last four decades to maintain regional stability. He also said that the GCC plays a positive role to preserve world peace and security and supports global efforts to combat terrorism and uproot its sources.

Al-Hajraf made the remarks during his participation in the 19th Arab Media Forum, which was organized by Dubai Press Club. The forum, which was held virtually under the auspices of Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, who is also the vice president and prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, brought together more than 3000 personalities, including Arab and international media representatives.

Dr. Al-Hajraf noted the strategic importance of the Gulf as an important energy supply group, playing a responsible role in maintaining supplies despite all odds over the last 40 years.
