RIYADH — Minister of Education Dr. Hamad Al-Sheikh has issued directives to continue disbursement of financial allocations for foreign scholarship students who are in the Kingdom during the coronavirus pandemic period, and who have been continuing their studies remotely. The students’ companions are not entitled to get the allowance.

Tariq Al-Ahmari, spokesman of the ministry for university education, said that the minister has approved continuation of scholarship for studies remotely at all academic levels until the end of the first semester of 2021, and that will be in a manner, which does not conflict with the residency system of the countries where the students pursue studies around the world.

The minister also instructed the deputy minister of education for universities, research and innovation to submit to the minister cases that required continued spending on companions. The deputy minister has also been authorized to approve the requests of those wishing to postpone their scholarship for one semester in accordance with the rules governing the postponement.
