Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH – The three-month-long winter season, which began on Dec. 21, is expected to be the coldest with the shortest number of days, according to the climate report, released by the Saudi National Center of Meteorology.

The winter season, which will end astronomically by March 20, 2021, will witness inclement weather, the center’s forecast said.

By analyzing historical climate data, the center expected that rainfall would be less than the normal level in most regions of the Kingdom.

The report also showed that surface temperatures will be higher than the normal average in the west, northwest, north and east of the Kingdom, by an amount that reaches a maximum of the degree of +1 in the northwest, around the normal rate in the central regions and the southwestern regions, and less than normal in the southern region by -1.

The center indicated the possibility of extreme weather conditions such as heavy rain, through short-term forecasts, which will be transmitted through the center’s website (www.ncm.gov.sa).
