Coronavirus deaths in KSA drop to single digit for first time in months

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health recorded on Monday 168 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 361,178.

The health ministry also reported 9 more virus-related deaths over the past 24 hours, marking the lowest single-day fatalities in many months following the outbreak of the pandemic in the Kingdom.

With Monday’s toll, the total number of deaths due to complications caused by COVID-19 stands at 6,131.

The ministry also reported 211 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 352,089, with the recovery rate rising to 97.48 percent.

All the regions of the Kingdom recorded less than 50 cases once again with the Makkah region reporting the highest with 45, followed by the Riyadh region with 31 and the Eastern region with 25.

The Jazan and Hail regions registered 1 case each.

The remaining cases were detected in different other regions of the Kingdom.

With the significant fall in new infections, the active cases in the Kingdom also dropped to 2,958 out of which 410 were critical cases.
