Top Yemeni officials laud Saudi support in implementation of Riyadh Agreement

RIYADH — Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed praised Saudi Arabia's keenness on the completion of the mechanism to accelerate the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement in various military and security aspects and on the formation of a new government.

The Yemeni prime minister indicated that the new government, which will work from the temporary capital of Aden, is looking forward to the support of the Kingdom and Yemen's development partners from donor countries and organizations for its plans and programs.

Abdulmalik pointed out that the new government will adopt radical economic programs, focusing on enhancing revenues, financial management and preventing corruption.

"The battle we are fighting today is multidimensional and not only military but economic, humanitarian, and developmental also. The new government is facing a real challenge and it will require the national will to confront it with courage and resolute measures," the Yemeni PM said.

He also referred to the systematic and misleading campaigns targeting the central bank of his country, based in Aden, by some parties, and said that these campaigns will not serve anyone as it will affect the lives of all Yemenis without exception.

Meanwhile, the speaker of the Yemeni parliament, Sultan Al-Barakani, appreciated the steps taken to implement the mechanism to accelerate the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, indicating that this achievement will entail reforms and restructuring state institutions. It will also activate the principle of oversight and accountability, stopping the deterioration of the national economy, controlling resources, and correcting imbalances.

Al-Barakani expressed his confidence in the support of Saudi Arabia for the programs and plans of the new government, in continuation of its stance with the Yemeni people in various circumstances and conditions. — SG
