JEDDAH — Customs officials at the Jeddah Islamic Port foiled an attempt to smuggle a huge cache of drugs. Three people, including a Saudi and a Syrian who came to receive the consignment, were arrested. The smuggled drugs include 8,753,432 captagon pills that were found hidden in the consignment of groats received at the port.

Muhammad Al-Naim, deputy head of the Saudi Customs Authority for security affairs, said that the targeting center at Saudi Customs was able to target a consignment from Turkey while it was on its way to the Kingdom, and upon its arrival at the port, customs officials seized the drugs hidden inside the groats dispatch. The seizure was made in coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.
