Educational system withstands test

Noor A. AlNaboud

Under difficult circumstances ours, others and systems’ strength are really measured. I have come to believe that Saudi Arabia’s educational system has withstood this test and is capable of almost anything.

Saudi Arabia underwent a new educational experience “TIMSS” following the suggestion of our Ministry of Education, led by Education Minister Dr. Hamad Al-Sheikh.

The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) are international assessments that monitor trends in student achievement in mathematics, science, and reading.

Saudi Arabia made a new achievement, as we recorded high results in the international TIMSS assessments. It is noteworthy to note that this assessment was among 64 countries, with Saudi Arabia’s average scores in TIMSS clearly increased compared to 2015.

We appreciate this move by Minister Dr. Al-Sheikh as the educational sector is witnessing further changes and improvements since 2019, from the time when Dr. Al-Sheikh took over at the helm of the Ministry of Education.

He insisted on the significance of TIMSS and, he made a lot of efforts by holding meeting and visits with the educational leaders and experts to make sure we are on the right track of TIMSS.

Dr. Al-Sheikh is a motivational leader; we can see this through his inspirational messages and his regular activity within our education institutions. He is known also for his availability and serviceability with students and educational teams.

This welcome decision of TIMSS assessments and its scores ranked us along with developed countries in the field of education.

It is undeniable that TIMSS assessments are not easy. However, Saudi Arabia this time preformed successfully in math and science and that was a significant change in our TIMSS score and kept us at the same level with other developed countries in the world for having high standards and educational methods.

It’s no wonder that all these outstanding accomplishments reflect the power of our country and leaders, and how much Saudi Arabia cares to develop human mind and education.

I would like to round up with this energizing quote about the importance of education. “Education is not only a ladder of opportunity, but it’s also an investment in our future”.
