SFDA attends ICCR meet on impact of COVID-19 pandemic

RIYADH — The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), participated in the 15th meeting of the International Cooperation on Cosmetics Regulation (ICCR) in Brussels, Belgium, held recently.

The meeting was held virtually, after SFDA's request was approved to participate in the works of ICCR as an observer.

SFDA was represented in the meeting by Dr. Adel Al-Harf, vice president of SFDA for Drug Sector, and Dr. Mohamed Al-Jalal, senior safety expert in Cosmetics Safety Department.

The meeting discussed the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the industrial sector for cosmetic products, in addition to the approval of reports related to the safety and regulation of cosmetic products.

Dr. Al-Harf stressed the importance of Saudi Arabia's participation in global efforts to increase the homogeneity of organizations between countries to facilitate the manufacture and circulation of cosmetic products in a manner that does not conflict with their safety.

He also confirmed the submission of a proposal to designate an international day for the safety of cosmetic products. — SPA
