Team Sultan thumps Team Warrior to lift MYDF Trophy

JEDDAH — The Memon Youth Development Forum (MYDF) here engaged the youth of the Memon community in physical activities as well as sports while following strict precautions and protocols.

The MYDF hosted a 10-over cricket match recently at the Kingdom Sports Complex Bani Malik between two teams, Team Sultan and Team Warrior, from the Memon community.

Team Sultan won the toss batted first, scored 113 runs in the allotted 10 overs. Mohammad Umair and Imran Amin batted very well.

In pursuit of the target, Team Warrior’s captain Talha Gaya started the innings. Middle-order batsman Mustafa Taloo showed the essence of brilliant batting and entertained the fans by hitting high sixes.

Rafiq Bhamla got his valuable wicket. Irfan Bakhshi took the match to the last over with his bat but the captain of Team Sultan Sadiq Lehra took a brilliant catch of the player of Warrior on the last ball of the last over for the match.

The tournament was attended by ladies and gentlemen of the Memon community as well as business celebrities. Siraj Adamjee welcomed all the guests and sponsors. He briefed the significance of sports in life.

Chief Guest Abdul Rehman Merchant, a renowned Memon personality associated with Jeddah cricket for the last 30 years, lauded the initiative of MYDF regarding cricket for Memon youth.

He assured his full support for the development of Memon Cricket team and distributed medals to the players. The captain of the winning team was presented with the trophy by team MYDF.

Due to coronavirus, limited guests were invited to attend following precautionary measures. Abdul Karim Yaseen, Younis Habib, Abdul Qadir Teli, Ismail Manda, Khalid Tanuma and Sajjad Regoo supported in organizing the MYDF Cricket Tournament.

MYDF had hosted a successful football tournament along with the online events for the last 8 months. Further MYDF has arranged to establish MYDF Health Club in coordination with Al-Ahli Club at a very nominal rate of SR 2.74 per day, which includes many indoor and outdoor facilities at the club.
