WASHINGTON — The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva congratulated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its successful presidency of the G20 while facing a year of unparalleled challenges.

She commended the unprecedented measures taken by G20 countries to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19, including the financial and monetary measures that have helped to prevent massive bankruptcies and an even deeper crisis.

Georgieva expressed the IMF's best wishes to the next G20 summit to be held in Italy in 2021.

This came in a statement issued Sunday by the IMF after the conclusion of the 15th session of the G20 countries, which was held in Riyadh on Nov. 21 and 22. — SPA
