JEDDAH — The moderate rains that was experienced in most parts of Jeddah, the Bride of the Red Sea, on Saturday came as a harbinger to a drop in Mercury with the ambience switching over to moderate and pleasant weather from a hot one.

The mild weather that coincided with the weekend holiday pushed scores of families to the Corniche waterfronts while strictly adhering to the coronavirus preventive protocols.

The rain caused no harm and there were no reports of disruption of life in any parts of the city. Vehicular movement was also not affected by any significant obstacles.

Workers of Jeddah Municipality were seen toiling to drain water pools on the King Fahd Road (Sitteen), one of the arteries of the city.

The General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection had forecast about rains in Jeddah with a recent statement in which it expected unstable weather conditions as a result of the approach of a cold air mass in the high air layers from the northern Red Sea side.

This was in conjunction with the blowing of warm and humid currents from the south of the Red Sea, due to an air height concentrated in the south of the Arabian Peninsula and these weather conditions would be suitable for the development of a belt of rainy thunder clouds, extending from the central Red Sea, all the way to the northeast of the Kingdom, through many central regions, the authority said the statement.
