NEW YORK — The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres affirmed that the early response of the G20 was crucial in easing the social and economic fallout from the pandemic.

António Guterres added that the G20 now needs to scale up ambition and deliver bolder measures to enable developing countries to address the crisis effectively and prevent the global recession from becoming a global depression.

This was stated by United Nations spokesperson Stephane Dujarric Tuesday at the daily press conference.

Dujarric pointed out that UN Secretary-General sent a message to the G20 before the virtual summit of the group that will be held later this week. — SPA
