KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait recorded on Tuesday 556 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 137,885, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health carried by state news agency KUNA.

The ministry also announced four more deaths due to complications caused by the deadly virus, taking the total number of fatalities to 848.

According to the ministry’s spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, there are currently 7,996 active cases in the country out of which 105 are receiving treatment in intensive care units.

A total of 6,521 tests were conducted over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of COVID-19 examinations in the country so far to 1,0231,59, Dr. Al-Sanad said.

Earlier in the day, the ministry announced that a total of 627 more patients have recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of recoveries in the country to 129,041. — SG
