RIYADH — Vice Chairman & CEO of SABIC and Chair of Business 20 (B20) Yousef Al-Benyan has thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman for their directives and their keenness on making the B20 summit meetings a success.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on the occasion of the Kingdom's presidency and hosting of the G20 Leaders' Summit, Al-Benyan said that the Kingdom’s hosting of the summit is the most prominent event in the world, as it is the most important forum for international economic cooperation.

He added that the G20 member countries collectively represent about 80% of the global GDP, 75% of the global trade volume, and 70% of the world population.

The Chair of B20 said that these days we are witnessing intensive movements, preparations and meetings being led by Riyadh to hold an exceptional summit in unusual circumstances coinciding with the coronavirus pandemic, adding that the pandemic's repercussions have led to unprecedented health, economic and social challenges in the world.

He further said that this exceptional situation constituted great challenges for the Saudi and global business sectors, which required introducing innovative solutions and ideas that contribute to the success of the summit and then contribute to the return of prosperity to the global economy.

He added that the Kingdom's presidency of the G20 came at a time when the world is in need to follow a wise and comprehensive approach, in order to direct the global economy to address the negative phenomena caused by the coronavirus pandemic. — SPA
