ABHA — Saudi Arabia always strives to be proactive in providing everything that contributes to preserving the health and value of the human beings, said Prince Turki Bin Talal, governor of Asir region on Thursday.

Prince Turki made the remarks during the launch of the "First International Conference on Technology in Neuroscience" here.

The three-day virtual conference, which began on Thursday, is being attended by Minister of Health Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah and a number of experts and specialists in neuroscience and artificial intelligence from Saudi Arabia, America, Italy, Britain, Switzerland, Russia and the United Arab Emirates.

The governor of Asir region thanked Princess Nujoud Bint Hathloul, head of the supreme supervisory committee of the conference, for establishing this international gathering despite the circumstances imposed by the pandemic, and working to organize it according to the available capabilities and possible ways. He also thanked all participants and sponsors for their support.

Health Minister Al-Rabiah also delivered a speech in which he offered his thanks and appreciation to Prince Turki for his continuous interest and continuous encouragement to establish such scientific events in the Asir region, and to provide all support and assistance for its success and the desired benefit from it.

Dr. Al-Rabiah explained that the conference aims to shed light on the role of technology in treating and diagnosing neurological diseases and recent developments in the field, most notably: artificial intelligence techniques, robots and monitoring brain activity during surgeries and others.

Princess Nujoud Bint Hathloul said that the conference aims to gather experts in this field from all over the world to present a pioneering model in neuroscience in the Kingdom's hospitals through the transfer of expertise and strengthening of global cooperation to overcome all obstacles that prevent access to prevention, care and service provision. — SG
