New COVID-19 infections in Kuwait outpace recoveries

KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait recorded on Tuesday 787 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 128,080, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health carried by state news agency KUNA.

The ministry also announced that three more patients died due to complications caused by the deadly virus, taking the total number of fatalities to 789.

According to the ministry’s spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, there are currently 8,211 active cases in the country out of which 110 are receiving treatment in intensive care units.

A total of 6,737 tests were conducted over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of COVID-19 examinations in the country so far to 933,626, Dr. Al-Sanad said.

Earlier in the day, the ministry announced that a total of 694 more patients have recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 118, 080. — SG
