October 22, 2020

Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — Saudi Health Council is carrying out studies about the prospect of linking issuance of an original birth certificate to the completion of basic vaccinations of the child. The move is part of several measures being taken by the council.

The council has also instructed health sectors to conduct auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing for newborn babies and document it digitally or on paper as well as on vaccination cards, according to a report in Al-Riyadh newspaper.

The Council would also carry out a study on other tests that should be conducted for newborns, and this will be included in the child’s health file. A provisional birth certificate will be issued after the birth but the original birth certificate will be issued only after completion of all the required vaccinations.
