Saudi Arabia to organize standards summit within G20 activities

RIYADH — The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), in partnership with local and international bodies, will organize the first international summit to discuss issues related to standards and their roles in facing crises and supporting digital transformation.

The Summit is part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's efforts, during its presidency of the G20, to enhance cooperation between countries of the world in various fields.

The Summit will kick off on Nov.4, 2020. A number of bodies will participate in organizing the Summit, including the G20 Saudi Secretariat, Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Saudi Communications & Information Technology Commission (CITC), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The Summit will discuss the role of standards and national standardization bodies in facing crises and the role of standards in enabling governmental, private and non-profit institutions to overcome crises. — SPA
