NEOM —
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, sent cables of congratulations to New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on her party’s resounding victory in the parliamentary elections.

In their congratulatory messages, King Salman and the Crown Prince wished the prime minister success and the people of New Zealand further progress and prosperity, Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

Ardern's center-left Labour Party won 49.1 percent of votes in general elections held on Saturday, bringing a projected 64 seats and a rare outright parliamentary majority.

The opposition center-right National Party won 26.8 percent in the poll — just 35 seats in the 120-seat assembly.

The poll was originally to be held in September but was postponed by a month after a renewed COVID-19 outbreak.
