Saudi Arabia sees 472 COVID-19 cases as recoveries outpace new infections

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia on Thursday registered 472 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 341,062, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry, 19 more died over the past 24 hours from complications caused by COVID-19, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities to 5,127.

The ministry also reported 507 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 327,327 with the recovery rate rising to 95.97 percent.

Of the new cases, Madinah recorded the highest number of cases with 83 infections followed by Yanbu with 56 and Makkah with 38 cases.

The remaining cases were detected in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom.

There are currently 8,608 active cases, out of which 829 are critical.
