JEDDAH — In collaboration with Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI), four Saudi artists will make a bid to enter the Guinness Book of World Records with a unique 10,000-square meter painting of a map with handprints.

The painting reportedly will be given as a gift to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah on the occasion of the 83rd Saudi national day.

Dina Al Nahdi, the brainchild behind the project, said that she aims to enter the Guinness Book of World Records to express love and loyalty to King Abdullah.

“We have done lots of work on the painting through eco-friendly materials to raise the level of environmental awareness in the community and to develop a culture of caring for the environment,” she said.

She added: “Representatives of the Guinness Book of World Records will arrive here this coming week to confirm officially the entry of this painting into the Guinness Book after having covered an area of 10,000 square meters with hand prints through eco-friendly material.”

She also said that the enormous painting is put on display at the Education stadium here for 40,000 students to put their handprints on the painting along with a number of ministers, senior officials, prominent community figures and businessmen.

The stadium has already opened its gates for citizens and students from various schools to get their hand -prints on the painting.

On Monday, Sheikh Saleh Kamel, chairman of JCCI, and other officials also contributed to the painting by putting their handprints.
