Coronavirus cases continue to drop in Saudi Arabia as death toll nears 5,000

407 new infections, 513 and 24 fatalities reported over the past 24 hours

RIYADH — Daily coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia continued to drop, with 407 new infections reported on Friday, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The ministry also announced 24 more deaths from complications caused by COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections and the virus-related death toll in the Kingdom to 338,539 and 4,996 respectively.

Of the news cases, Madinah recorded 54, Makkah 39, Yanbu 27, Hafouf 23, Riyadh 23, and Damman 18. The remaining cases were detected in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom.

Active cases have also dropped sharply in the Kingdom with 9,261 reported on Friday out of which 859 are critical.

The ministry also announced that 513 more patients have fully recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 324,282, with the recovery rate climbing to nearly 96 percent.
