Saudi Arabia reports 492 new COVID-19 infections as critical cases hit record low

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health on Thursday announced 492 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 335,097.

Out of the total confirmed infections, active cases have fallen sharply to 10,557 with critical ones dropping to 993, the lowest in several months.

The ministry also reported 26 new deaths from complications caused by the deadly virus, putting the country’s COVID-19 death toll now at 4,794.

The ministry also announced that 592 more patients have fully recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 319,746, with the recovery rate reaching 95.41 percent.

Of the new cases, 55 were recorded in Madinah, 52 in Yanbu, 39 each in Jeddah and Makkah. The remaining cases were detected in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom.
