RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health on Wednesday recorded 418 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, marking the second-lowest single-day infections. The lowest single-day number, 403 cases, was reported on Sept. 27 (Sunday).

The number of COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom has been dropping almost every single day since mid-June from peaking at 4,919.

For the first time in several months, all major cities of the Kingdom have reported less than 50 cases as Makkah and Riyadh reported the 31 each new infections, followed by Yanbu with 29, and Hafouf with 25.

The remaining cases were detected in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom.

The ministry also said that 29 more people have died from the complications caused by the virus in the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 334,605 and the number of virus-related fatalities to 4,768 so far.

The ministry also announced that 612 more patients have fully recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 319,154, with the recovery rate hitting a whopping 95.38 percent.

Active cases have also been dropping steadily with only 10,683 being reported Wednesday and the critical cases for the time in months have reached below the 1,000-mark.
