RIYADH — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) signed on Wednesday an agreement with Al-Basar International Foundation to implement programs to combat blindness in eight countries for the year 2020-2021.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Aqeel Bin Jamaan Al-Ghamdi, the assistant supervisor-general for planning and development at KSRelief, and Dr. Adel Bin Abdulaziz Al-Rashoud, the secretary-general of Al-Basar International Foundation, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Dr. Al-Ghamdi said that according to the agreement, 30 medical campaigns to combat the disease that causes blindness will be implemented in eight countries, namely Yemen, Philippines, Congo, Bangladesh, Sudan, Djibouti, Rwanda, and Burundi.

As part of the campaign, around 12,000 operations will be performed and 30,000 medical glasses will be distributed, benefiting 150,000 individuals.

Dr. Al-Ghamdi added that this agreement comes within the framework of humanitarian efforts being provided by Saudi Arabia, represented by KSRelief, to alleviate the sufferings of people worldwide and provide treatment for them.
