27 more die as Saudi Arabia sees slight increase in COVID-19 cases

RIYADH —Saudi Arabia on Tuesday recorded 539 new coronavirus cases and 27 more deaths over the past 24 hours, marking a slight increase in the single-day number as compared to the last few days.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 334,187 and virus-related fatalities to 4,739, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The ministry also announced that 696 more patients have fully recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 318,542, with the recovery rate hitting a whopping 95.31 percent.

Meanwhile, active cases have continued to drop with only 10,906 being reported on Monday, out of which 1,005 are critical.

Jeddah reported the highest daily cases with 61, followed by Makkah with 53, and Madinah with 46 infections. The remaining cases were detected in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom.
