Coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia drop to lowest in several months

461 new infections, 769 recoveries, 30 deaths reported in last 24 hours

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s single-day new coronavirus cases dropped to the lowest in several months with 461 infections reported on Saturday.

The number of COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom has been dropping almost every single day since mid-June when it reached nearly 5,000.

The ministry also said that 30 more people have died from the complications caused by the virus in the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 332,790 and the number of virus-related fatalities to 4,655 so far.

Of the new cases, 49 were recorded in Jeddah, 42 in Makkah, 40 in Madinah, 29 in Hufof, and 27 in Jeddah.

Meanwhile, 769 infected patients have fully recovered from the deadly disease, pushing the total number of recoveries to 316,405, with the recovery rate surpassing 95 percent, according to the ministry.

Active cases have also fallen significantly in the Kingdom with 11,730 being reported on Saturday, out of which 1,035 are critical.

The ministry also said that a total of 38,528 additional coronavirus examinations were conducted in the past 24 hours.
