97% of Saudis are happy with National Day holiday: Survey

RIYADH — An overwhelming majority of Saudis are happy with the National Day being a holiday and are keen to celebrate the occasion, Okaz daily reported citing a survey.

The survey conducted by the Saudi Centre for Opinion Polls on the 90th National Day found that 89 percent of Saudis believe the National Day celebrations boost national unity.

The survey showed that 87.9 percent of Saudis knew that the National Day refers to the anniversary of the unification of the Kingdom, and 77.9 percent knew this year marked the 90th National Day.

The Saudi society showed a strong desire and support for the activities that take place in the celebration of the National Day.

Of those surveyed, 96.9 percent said they were glad that National Day was a holiday, while 94.5 percent enjoyed the shopping discounts, 92.8 percent the air shows, while concerts and folk arts were admired by 84.8 percent and fireworks received a positive response from 77.9 percent of Saudis, the survey revealed.
