Saudi Arabia sees slight rise in coronavirus cases

561 new infections and 27 more deaths recorded in past 24 hours

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia on Wednesday recorded 561 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 331,359 so far, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

Twenty-seven more people have, however, died from the complications caused by the virus in the past 24 hours, taking the Kingdom’s death toll to 4,569, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, 1,102 infected patients have fully recovered from the deadly disease, pushing the total number of recoveries to 313, 786, with the recovery rate surpassing 94 percent, according to the ministry.

With the drop in new infections in the past few days, active cases have also fallen significantly with 13,004 being reported on Wednesday, out of which 1,093 are critical.

Makkah reported the highest daily cases with 75, followed by Jeddah with 51 cases, and Hofuf with 38. The remaining cases were detected in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom.
