RIYADH – The Criminal Court in Riyadh issued final verdicts against eight people involved in the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, according to the spokesman of the Public Prosecution.

Five defendants were sentenced to 20-year jail terms each while the remaining two get seven years each and one awarded with 10 years of imprisonment. The convicts will get a total 124 years of imprisonment.

The spokesman said that the verdicts are final and must be enforced in accordance with Articles 210 and 212 of the Criminal Procedure Law. “Upon the issuance of these final judgments, both the public and private aspects of the criminal lawsuit shall lapse in accordance with Articles 22 and 23 of the Criminal Procedure Law,” the spokesman said.

The private right in the lawsuit was terminated earlier after Khashoggi’s children pardoned the killers.
