MANAMA — The Gulf region’s stability and solidarity depend “in all situations” on Saudi Arabia, said Bahrain’s King Hamad Bin Isa Khalifa during his meeting on Tuesday with Jared Kushner, senior adviser to US President Donald Trump, and an accompanying delegation, Bahrain News Agency reported.

King Hamad affirmed Bahrain’s unwavering support to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in achieving further regional prosperity and stability.

Kushner is visiting Gulf countries following an Aug. 13 accord between the United Arab Emirates and Israel to normalize relations and has said he hopes more countries will follow suit.

Saudi Arabia has said its price for normalizing ties with Israel is the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

King Hamad also highlighted the UAE’s historic and continued efforts to support the interests and causes of Arab and Islamic nations, and their determined endeavors to reach a just and comprehensive solution that guarantees the Palestinian people their legitimate rights and lasting peace in the region.

During the meeting with Kushner, King Hamad highlighted the historic ties between Bahrain and the United States, which span more than 120 years of diplomatic relations and more than 75 years of military cooperation.

The Bahraini king emphasized the strength of bilateral relations, noting their continued progress in many fields, supported by a joint commitment to deepening ties to benefit the interests of both countries and the security and stability of the Arabian Gulf.

He welcomed Kushner’s visit to the Kingdom and noted the US Administration’s significant efforts to support peace and stability in the region.

Earlier in the day, Bahrain’s Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa received and hosted a lunch banquet for Kushner and the accompanying delegation.
