RIYADH — The Arab Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen on Sunday successfully intercepted and destroyed a bomb-laden unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia in the Southern Region, targeting Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The statement by the official spokesman of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Col. Turki Al-Maliki said: "Joint Coalition Forces have intercepted and destroyed this afternoon (Sunday) a bomb-laden UAV launched systematically and deliberately by the terrorist Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian objects in the Southern Region.”

The Houthi militia had also on Friday launched two bomb-laden drones that were both intercepted and destroyed. According to Col. Al-Maliki, the first drone fired toward the Kingdom’s Southern Region was intercepted and destroyed in the morning, while the second drone targeting Najran was intercepted in the evening.

He said both drones were launched systematically and deliberately by the terrorist Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian facilities in the Kingdom. — SPA
