RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan met on Thursday with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi in Baghdad.

During their meeting, they discussed the strong ties between the two brotherly countries and ways to enhance them in all fields in order to serve the interests of the two countries, as well as the security and stability of the region, the Kingdom’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a tweet.

In a statement on its official Twitter handle, the Iraqi government said: “PM @MAKadhimi receives in Baghdad the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, @FaisalbinFarhan for discussions on bilateral relations and developments in the region.”

“PM @MAKadhimi says Iraqi-Saudi relations are founded on deeply rooted historic ties, and that the @IraqiGovt seeks to strengthen this partnership in all fields for the benefits of the people of the two countries,” the statement added.

Earlier in the day, Prince Farhan tweeted, saying: “Today I was pleased to visit Iraq, a country with which we have deep historic ties and share an ambitious future. I discussed with Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi the steadily growing bilateral relations and common challenges and conveyed to him the greetings of the Kingdom's leadership and its good wishes to the brotherly Iraqi people.”
