Kuwait records 502 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths

KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait saw a considerable drop in new coronavirus cases as it recorded 502 new infections over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-10 cases in the country to 79,269, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health carried by Kuwait News Agency.

All the new cases were in contact with previously infected people or are being investigated for sources of infection, according to the Health Ministry’s spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad.

The ministry also announced two more deaths from complications caused by COVID-19, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities in Kuwait to 511.

The spokesman also said that there are 95 patients receiving treatment in intensive care units.

Kuwait’s total coronavirus tests have risen to 581,118 after 3,530 tests have been done over the past 24 hours, Dr. Al-Sanad added.

Earlier in the day, the health ministry reported that 622 more patients have recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in Kuwait to 71,264.
