RIYADH — Emir of Riyadh Prince Faisal Bin Bandar launched an electronic ambulance system here on Monday. The service, dubbed the “Electronic Medic System”, is aimed at cutting time of response to emergency case requests.

The emir launched the service in his office in the presence of head of the Saudi Red Crescent Dr. Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al-Qassem, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said on Tuesday. Dr. Al-Qassem presented a briefing on the system and its operation method.

The advanced system will be linked to all 91 medical facilities handling emergency cases in Riyadh, according to SPA.

Its advantages include checking preparedness of ambulatory teams for the service, receiving new alerts, and charting the best routes to reach sites of the emergency cases.

The Red Crescent system also determines the appropriate medical facility for each emergency case as well as the quickest route to reach the treatment site. It features electronic registration of ambulatory data.

The Saudi Red Crescent operates 112 ambulance centers in the Riyadh region.
