Kuwait to start fourth phase plan of restoring normal life

KUWAIT CITY — As part of the government plant to gradually return to normal life, Kuwait has decided to implement the fourth phase of the plan from Aug. 18.

The announcement was made after the ministers gave it a go-ahead during an extraordinary Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Thursday.

During the meeting, Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah updated the Cabinet on the public health situation and the latest developments related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), including the figures of recoveries, infections and deaths.

The ministers discussed the responses to the pandemic, including the preventive measures and the logistic services, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anas Al-Saleh said following the meeting.

After reviewing the recommendations of the ministerial committee on coronavirus, the ministers decided to allow some of the activities listed for the fifth phase like sports and health clubs, personal care stores, salons, tailoring shops, and workshops committed to a health requirement.

It also decided to allow cafes, restaurants and public transport buses to operate with the implementation of the social distancing regulations.


The Cabinet also decided to keep the nationwide partial curfew.

The official spokesperson for the government, Tariq Al-Muzrim, announced the Cabinet’s decision to approve the resumption of football activity within the framework of preparations for continental and international tournaments without the presence of an audience with the application of health requirements, as of Aug. 15, 2020.
