Kuwait reports 701 new coronavirus cases, 648 more recoveries

KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait on Thursday confirmed 701 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 74,486, the Kuwaiti News Agency reported citing a statement from the Ministry of Health.

Of the new cases, there are 500 Kuwaiti citizens and 201 expatriates from different countries, according to the Health Ministry’s spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad.

The ministry said that no new deaths from COVID-19 were reported in the last 24 hours, keeping the total number of virus-related fatalities in Kuwait at 489.

Dr. Al Sanad also said that 118 patients are currently receiving treatment in intensive care units.

The spokesman added that a total of 4,147 additional coronavirus tests were conducted over the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of COVID-19 tests in the country to 548,005.

Earlier in the day, the health ministry reported that 648 more patients have recovered from the deadly disease over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries from the disease in Kuwait to 66,099.
