Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia on Wednesday extended its full support to Sudan to achieve stability and unity in the country.

Underlining the importance of peace in a country’s development, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan said that the Kingdom will make all possible efforts to help Sudan overcome its current challenges.

Prince Farhan made the remarks during a virtual “Friends of Sudan” meeting hosted and chaired by Saudi Arabia.

Prince Faisal also commended the efforts of the United States to remove Sudan from a list of state sponsors of terrorism.

The meeting also sought to support the negotiation process among conflicting parties in order to reach a comprehensive agreement and achieve sustainable peace.

The meeting was attended by Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok along with key members of his transitional government as well as leaders of armed factions.

Prince Faisal last week had expressed Saudi Arabia’s interest in developing its investments in Sudan. He had also said the Kingdom was keen on maintaining cooperation with Khartoum to preserve Red Sea security and ensure the success of the transition period.
