Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH —
Saudi Arabia saw a steady rise of 1,428 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 288,690, the ministry of health spokesman said on Sunday.

Thirty-seven people died due to complications caused by COVID-19, which raises the virus-related death toll to 3,167.

The number of recoveries in the country rose to 252,039 after 1,599 people recovered from the coronavirus, Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali was quoted by Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as saying.

The slight rise can be linked to people attending large gatherings and failing to adhere to social distancing measures, Dr. Al-Abdel Ali said. However, there is no specific virus hotspot in the Kingdom since most people have been following preventative measures, he added.

Makkah saw the highest number of cases on Sunday, followed by Riyadh with 106 infections. There were 68 new cases in Hufof, 59 in Jazan, 57 in Jeddah, 50 in Madinah, 45 each in Buraidah and Dammam, 43 in Hail, 36 in Baish, 30 in Hafr Al-Batin, 28 in Abha, 27 each in Mobarraz and Khulais, 25 each in Sabt Al-Alayah and Tabuk, 24 in Unaizah, 23 in Khamis Mushayt, 22 each in Taif and Balisamar and 21 each in Al-Laith and Ar-Ras.

The rest of the cases were detected in different governorates and cities across the Kingdom, the spokesman said.
